Can I take my aligners off whenever I need to?
Yes, you can remove your Invisalign® aligners for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. You can take them off for special occasions, like a wedding, a job interview, or for playing your favourite sport or instrument. Just remember to wear them 20 to 22 hours a day to get the best results.
Are there any restrictions on what I can eat while in treatment?
None! Invisalign® clear aligners are removable, so there are no food restrictions at all (hello popcorn!). With traditional wires and brackets, there’s a long list of foods you unfortunately can’t enjoy, as they can damage or get stuck in your braces.
Is Invisalign® treatment painful?
Invisalign® treatment moves your teeth by applying gentle, constant force, but some people do feel temporary discomfort for the first few days of wearing a new set of aligners. Typically, people describe it as feeling “pressure,” and it’s normal — it’s a sign that your Invisalign® clear aligners are working and transforming your smile.

Sometimes, when I remove my aligners, my teeth feel loose. Is that common?

Will Invisalign® treatment still work if I only wear my aligners while I sleep?
You need to wear your Invisalign® aligners 20 to 22 hours a day to get the results you want.
Will wearing Invisalign® clear aligners affect my speech?
It may take a couple of days for your tongue to get used to having your Invisalign® aligners in your mouth, and you may have a slight lisp. But this should disappear quickly.
Will smoking stain my aligners?
We discourage smoking while wearing Invisalign® aligners because it can stain them.
Can I chew gum while wearing aligners?
No, gum will stick to your Invisalign® aligners. We recommend removing your aligners for all meals and snacks, including gum.
Can the aligners slip off while I’m asleep?
It is very unlikely that your aligners will ever fall out, no matter what you are doing: sleeping, talking, laughing, etc. Invisalign® clear aligners are designed to fit snugly around your teeth, so this should not be a cause for concern.
I went on a trip and forgot to take my aligners with me. Will my aligners still fit?
The answer depends on how long you’ve gone without wearing your Invisalign® aligners. If it’s only been a short time, your aligners should still fit, but they might feel uncomfortable. If it’s been a longer time, talk to your Invisalign® dentist about your unique situation.
8. How do I take care of my aligners?
What’s the best way to clean my aligners?
The best way to clean your aligners is by brushing and rinsing them in lukewarm water and using Invisalign® Cleaning Crystals or special cleaning tablets. To maintain good oral hygiene, it’s important to brush your teeth after each meal before re-inserting your aligners.
If I have food residue (like blueberries or pasta sauce) in my mouth when I put my aligners back in, can they become stained?
Yes. That’s why it’s important to brush after every meal before placing your Invisalign® aligners back in your mouth.
What if I lose or break an aligner? What should I do?
If you lose or break an Invisalign® aligner, immediately let your dentist know. Your dentist will work with you to ensure you stay on track with your treatment plan, which may involve wearing a previous set of aligners, your next set of aligners, or ordering replacement aligners.
Can I order replacement aligners from the Invisalign® brand directly?
All aligners and retainers must be ordered through your dentist, as they are considered prescription items. Please contact your dentist directly if you need to order a replacement.
9. What happens when I'm done with Invisalign® treatment?
Will I need to wear a retainer after treatment to prevent my teeth from moving again?
Most dentists recommend that anyone who has completed orthodontic treatment, whether with braces or Invisalign® treatment, use a retainer to prevent teeth from gradually shifting back toward their initial position. Every case is different, so ask your dentist if you need retainers.
What type of retainer should I use?
While there are many different types of retainers, we recommend Vivera retainers. An amazing dental practice. I'm from the old school of dental work and grew up terrified of the dentist. Not here! Dr Khan is an exceptional dentist, extremely professional and understanding of any fears, talking you through the whole process with patience. I was terrified as I needed my wisdom tooth extracted. But, after a week of being terrified I now wonder why. It was quick, pain free and only took about 15 minutes for the whole procedure. About 5 seconds for the tooth itself to come out! I can't recommend this dental practice enough. I have visted a few times and all the staff are so friendly. The practice itself is exceptionally clean. Don't be scared. Go!

Amazing service, had my wisdom tooth taken out and was over in about a minute. I was very anxious having never had anything done to my teeth before but Dr Khan was very reassuring, explained exactly what he was going to do and procedure was done before I blinked!
I needed to have both of my top wisdom teeth out. I had local anaesthetic and there was no pain at all. The procedure only takes about 5 minutes and wasn't scary. Great dentist! Excellent advice and sorted out my dental issues. If you haven't been to the dentist for a while like I hadn't, these guys will make you feel comfortable.
Have recently undergone some work to replace old veneers. Work took place during two visits over consecutive weeks. Delighted with the end result and cannot recommend Dr Khan and his team in the surgery and in the reception area highly enough. Professional and friendly throughout. I should also add that Dr Khan coaxed me through the various procedures during this treatment and was able to help me to relax and remove some initial anxiety that I had. Highly recommend.

the staff were absolutely amazing with me as i was so nervous about my procedure, everyone was so kind and informed me so well on all the options i had. i felt so comfortable and it was so nice to finally be relieved of the pain i had been in :) i also found it really incredible how they had emergency appointments for the same day and being able to get me in, i had such a lovely experience, thank you to everyone :)

Ive been with this dentist for 4 years now. Since my first ever appointment there Dr Khan has always made me feel at ease and all the staff are friendly and welcoming. Dr Khan has been great with my treatments over the last few years, I find him to be very honest if treatments are needed or not and when I have had things done he does a great job.Highly recommended.

After being recommended here by a friend I cannot praise them enough. I'd been to a different dentist who did terrible composite bonding on my front tooth which made me very self conscious. Dr Rohan is lovely and did an amazing job. I'll definitely be back for him for more work. Beautiful venue and great staff. Overall great experience.
Have had a really great experience so far at Pure Dental. Everyone from Dr Khan, the dental nurses and the lovely reception team have made me feel very relaxed and at ease. Dr Khan knows what he is doing and has given me some pointers in maximising my gum health.Looking forward to finishing off my treatment and receiving composite bonding soon.

Dr Dee is one of the best. Had treatment off his at Liverpool Dental Spa and followed him to PureDental. Wouldn’t go elsewhere.Explains every part of what he is doing as has the best plan for you moving forward.Always respectful and polite during any discussions with him.

Recently had composite bonding done by Dr Rohan for the first time and they are better than I ever expected. He is really and nice, professional and makes you feel comfortable. His team of nurses are also very friendly, overall had a good experience and really happy with my results.
Dr Khan was amazing had to book an emergency appointment as I couldn’t locate a dentist to fit me in when I needed a large filling and had serious pain when I was eating managed to get booked in the day after I rang and got my filling sorted!! All the reception staff and the dental nurse with Dr Khan were lovely cant thank them enough!
Had 6 composite bonds done 3 years ago by a different dentist, however was not completely satisfied but I coped. Dr Khan was so understanding and informative regarding the work needed to bring my teeth back up to a healthy standard and then so availble to complete all work. I am thrilled with my teeth and will continue with Dr Khan for the foreseeable as he has made me feel so comfortable every appointment and is always flexible with my availability. I have just finished my invisalign treatment, whitening & edge bonding and I am over the moon with my results! Dr Hothi was so attentive and really listened to what I wanted. Pure dental is a lovely practice I have recently gotten treatment done and I am very happy with the results. All the staff are welcoming and friendly, which makes the experience much better as I can be a nervous patient sometimes. I've been a client of Dr Khan’s at Pure Dental in Allerton for well over a decade now and to be honest I wouldn’t consider going anywhere else for my dental treatment.Having had a fair bit of dental work done over the years including the fitting of crowns & veneers, zoom teeth whitening and most recently Invisalign teeth straightening I have been thrilled with the results and can wholeheartedly recommend Pure Dental.What makes this practice so special is Dr Khan who, apart from being a genuinely nice guy, is a hugely knowledgable dentist who does a fantastic job of putting the client at ease and advising on the best solutions whilst constantly evolving with new methods and adhering to the best dental practices. Dr Dee is very understanding of nervous patients. When I first visited him I was very anxious, Dr Dee took the time to explain every step and what to expect. He is very patient and will allow for you to take a moment to gather yourself.Now on my visits, I’m not anxious, I know exactly what will be happening and what to expect. Dr Dee will ensure that everything is how it should be before you leave and if needed will schedule a follow up appointment. I play a musical instrument and he took this into consideration throughout my treatment. He is the best dentist I’ve been to.
